Honda Further Develops Robotics

You know that Honda has developed some of the best autos available today, including the Honda Accord and Honda Pilot. But you may not know that they're pioneering the robotics industry with one very human-like robot: ASIMO.
ASIMO first debuted nearly 12 years ago, and Honda has worked to make it not only cool to watch, but beneficial in the long run. This year, ASIMO proved its worth during a demonstration at Honda's research facility near Tokyo. Honda also shared with reporters that with technology like ASIMO, they've been able to assist in the cleanup of the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan.
The robot is now able to balance itself on uneven surfaces, run faster, hop on one foot and even gracefully pour a drink. At the Nuclear plant, these smooth robotics are being used to open and close valves, to help bring the stricken plant under control after it went into meltdown earlier this year.
ASIMO is a pretty cool robot. It can distinguish the voices of three people speaking at one time, move all of its fingers individually, and even do sign language. But this is just the beginning for Honda. The sky's the limit.
As Honda President Takanobu Ito says, "Maybe at the start this was a dream of engineers to make a machine that was close to a human being." He goes on to say, "Asimo is good."2 And, it's probably easy to see why Honda Cars of Aiken agrees. This piece of very cool technology is just a small part of the excellence that goes into every Honda vehicle.
